How long does window tint actually last?
Ceramic and carbon - real-world lifespan and what shortens it.
Film quality sets the ceiling
Quality carbon and nano-ceramic films are built to hold their color and clarity for the life of the vehicle or glass. Cheap dyed films are the ones that turn purple and bubble, which is why we do not install them. Every automotive and residential film we install is backed by a lifetime warranty; commercial film typically carries about a 12 year warranty.
What actually shortens tint life
Harsh ammonia cleaners, abrasive towels, roll-down before the film has cured, and defroster lines scraped with ice tools are the usual culprits. Sun exposure alone rarely kills a modern film - poor installation and poor care do.
Signs it is time to replace
Purple or bronze color shift, hazing you cannot clean off, bubbles that never went away after the cure window, or edges lifting at the top of a door glass. At that point removal and a fresh install is the right call.
