Blocks 78% HeatLifetime WarrantyFree On-Site Quote

Central Valley summers are unforgiving. West-facing rooms hit 90°F by 3pm. Hardwood floors bleach out. Media rooms get washed in glare. The AC runs all afternoon and the bill still climbs. Residential window film solves every one of those problems - in a single afternoon, without changing how your windows look from the street.

At DarkSide Window Tinting we install optically clear, nano-ceramic residential films that reject up to 78% of infrared heat and 99% of UV rays. That means cooler rooms, lower cooling bills, protected furniture, and a house that finally feels comfortable in July. Our films install invisibly on the interior side of your existing glass - no exterior work, no scaffolding, no mess.

Why homeowners install window film

Most of our residential clients call for one of five reasons: heat, UV fade, glare, privacy, or security. Some call for all five. Whatever the trigger, the fix is the same: the right film matched to your specific glass, professionally installed, and backed by a lifetime warranty.

  • Rejects up to 78% of infrared heat - the room-warming half of sunlight
  • Blocks 99% of UV rays - equivalent to SPF 1000+ across every window
  • Cuts glare up to 84% for media rooms, home offices, and south-facing living rooms
  • Adds daytime privacy without curtains, shutters, or blocking the view out
  • Upgrades to safety film that holds broken glass together in the frame for hurricane, storm, or break-in protection
  • Preserves the exterior look of your home - most films are invisible from the curb

Films built for homes

We stock a full lineup of residential-specific films from the top three US manufacturers. Our most popular option, Solar Elite Ceramic, comes in a range of light tints that cut heat and glare while keeping your view, and it carries a lifetime warranty against fading, cracking, and delamination. A nearly clear version is available if you want zero change to the look of the glass, though most homes do better with a light shade. For homes that want something more decorative, we offer frosted privacy films for bathrooms, gradient films for ground-floor windows, and custom-cut vinyl for entry sidelights.

What the install looks like

Most whole-home installs take a single day. We arrive with a two-person crew, shoe covers, drop cloths, and a portable vacuum. We clean each pane of glass to lab-grade standards, cut the film to a hair-fine gap around the frame, and squeegee out every trace of moisture. You'll see minor water lines under the film for 1-2 weeks as the mounting solution cures - that's normal and completely disappears. After that, the film is invisible.

No paint touched. No hardware removed. No exterior work. You unlock your door in the morning, and by dinner your house is cooler.

Free in-home consultation

We measure your glass, note orientation and shading, and walk you through 2-3 film options with samples you can hold up to your windows. You'll leave with a fixed written quote and a scheduled install date - usually within 7-10 days.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Will window film make my house look dark from the outside?

No. Our flagship ceramic films are optically clear and virtually invisible from the street. If you want a mirrored or bronzed look, we offer that too - but it's a choice, not a default.

Can film damage my dual-pane windows?

Not when properly spec'd. Every film we install has been tested and approved by the manufacturer for use on your specific glass type. We provide the compatibility documentation with the quote and every install carries a warranty against seal failure.

How much does whole-home window film cost?

Most Central Valley homes fall between $2,500 and $5,500 for full coverage, depending on window count and film grade. We offer room-by-room pricing if you want to start with just the problem rooms.

How long does the install take?

Most single-story homes take one full day. Two-story homes with 25+ windows take one to two days. We work clean - shoe covers, drop cloths, and a portable vacuum.

How long does residential film last?

Our flagship Solar Elite carries a lifetime warranty. Standard films carry 15-year manufacturer warranties. In real-world use we regularly see installs looking factory-fresh after 20+ years.
